Pes Films

Okay a post before my mind and body completely crashes.

Enough about me, I promised myself I wouldn't blog about personal issues. On to what I wanted to share.

PES!

aka Adam Pesapane is a director and animator of several hilarious short films and commercials. His earlier work was inspired by another amazing animator Jan Švankmajer. He transforms everyday objects into magical and twisted characters. A relatively new director who has been only active for about 8 years he's received attention by winning the award for best film in Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France 2002 for his work "Roof Sex." The film itself is only a minute long, but took 20 days to shoot. Asides from the obvious reason the stop-motion technique being a time consuming process, Pesapane had to wait for perfect blue skies in order to have consistancy and enough sunlight to light the film. Western Spaghetti has to be a favourite of mine because it combines 2 loves of mine. Food and Animation basically. It's received over 3 million hits online and I can't believe I haven't seen it until recently earlier this month, but I've been spreading and linking it like mad to people who would enjoy it.

Pes has a ton of other videos that you can check out on his website. The ads especially are funny in this disturbed way but if you think about it, very effective.

Damn it Stephane you ruined my pony!

I don't know what it is...it might be hormones, but there is something endearing about the handmade. The handmade that is ridiculously childish, unrefined and unpolished. It's like an aversion to everything that is sleek, digitally manipulated and refined. That is not to say I don't have an affection for technology. One can have the extremes of loving film cameras, handwritten notes and antique furniture to watching cartoons on her ipod, emailing silly messages and playing a variety of video games (currently Guitar Hero and Scribblenauts).

Also I find that instead of trying to act older I try to act younger now? I do invite the prospect of being a child again for obvious reasons.

I've also been rewatching "The Science of Sleep," the more I rewatch it the more I grow to love it. When I first watched it I thought it was a bit boring dragged on too much but had some interesting concepts. Now while watching it with its themes of unrequited love and philsophy I can't help but empathise. Plus it has the best quotes."In dreams emotions are overwhelming."

I'm not quite sure of the purpose of this post, maybe to let off some steam. Also I find it strange when people start talking to me about my blog. I don't know you read my blog so I have no idea what you're on about. Frankly you seem pretty ignorant to what I'm writing about anyway. The purpose of comments or feedback is to refer or discuss the subject that has been posted. I don't know why I'm getting so frustrated or annoyed about this, but I am.

I've had a weird day of sitting on cold tiles, singing beatles songs while tearing apart the mesh of chicken wire (I now have a ton of cuts on my fingers).
